Safety Plan Update Effective 8/23/2021
As mandated by governor Gavin Newsom, YCSC is dedicated to upholding the standards of the California Department of Public Health in encouraging staff to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Vaccination against COVID-19 is the most effective means of preventing infection with the COVID-19 virus, and subsequent transmission and outbreaks. Current CDPH guidance strongly recommends vaccination for all eligible individuals, thereby reducing COVID-19 rates throughout the community, including in schools, and creating a wrap-around safety layer for unvaccinated students. Should anyone opt out of taking the Covid-19 vaccine, they will be required to undergo weekly PCR or antigen testing.
Consistent with this recommendation, YCSC will require verification of vaccinated status among eligible school workers and is in the process of implementing a screening application for daily self monitoring and vaccination upload. This will assist with easily generating reports and flagging staff/students who have marked symptoms.
YCSC is also in the process of contracting with the California Department of Public Health and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health for implementation of PCR/Rapid-Antigen testing and training.
All staff and students will be notified of any additional updates to the safety plan and those updates will also be posted on the website.
